We must ask God for the wisdom we lack to properly respond to trials.
Wisdom is the right use of knowledge
God responds to our request for wisdom in two ways: generously and without reproach.
There are two conditions for asking God for wisdom:

In faith – knowing God can do anything.
Without doubt – not questioning God’s ability to do something

If we approach God as just one source of wisdom equal to others from which we can pick and choose, then we cannot expect we will receive anything from the Lord.
